Greetings everyone, I generally do not engage in publicly criticizing individuals unless a situation significantly disturbs me, and the following matter is one such instance. Recently, I observed an individual on TikTok conducting live broadcasts of police incidents. This individual is not a journalist or creator intended to inform the public; rather, he records police actions because of a personal negative interaction and feels compelled to chase scanner calls. In my opinion, this constitutes interference with law enforcement activities. Moreover, if his intent is anti-police, he would be someone I would prefer not to have present during a medical emergency. Observing police activity is one thing; however, inserting oneself into a situation solely for entertainment or personal satisfaction—especially when feeling wronged—is entirely inappropriate. There are established laws regarding obstruction of justice and interference with law enforcement. From what I observed, he did not attempt to interfere directly but clearly follows the Springfield, Missouri police because he believes he was treated unfairly. He was broadcasting a domestic dispute, which is private matters not meant for public dissemination. Coincidentally, I was listening to the same channel that day; to be honest, my background noise is a police scanner, which helps maintain my mental well-being in the sense of white noise so that it is not silent in my apartment -and keeps me informed of local events. I do not wander around town deliberately seeking law enforcement, emergency, or fire department activity. I have family members who are retired military and former emergency responders. I do not engage in intrusive surveillance of ongoing situations unless I am part of the media. During sensitive incidents, unless one is a member of the press, it is none of their business. Therefore, I advise against supporting this individual financially if he is using such funds for improper purposes, such as provoking law enforcement. It is important to remember that the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech but does not extend to harassing or interfering with police, fire, or emergency services, which constitutes obstruction and interference under the law.
