In this yarn review, Iβd like to share my thoughts on a cake yarn from Michaels that has been in my stash for a while. Although I think itβs better suited for autumn or winter projects, Iβve decided to use it now, even though it’s 80Β° this morning. Itβs a comfortable day for crafting, especially while listening to public safety radio and watching my friends on TikTok. I slept well, but am looking forward to more rest tonight.
Currently, Iβm focused on creating a pillow sham or mini pillow blanket, which measures about 45 to 50 stitches wide, using my go-to size two needles. If I had the budget, I would love to revamp my yarn collection, especially by adding more cotton cakes. They are my favorite regardless of the brand, as long as they are workable.
Recently, I finished a project with a size 7 Inoxal crochet hook. Itβs a German brand that seems to be discontinued, with prices on eBay ranging from $24 to $40, highlighting its vintage appeal. I feel fortunate to have a few of their hooks, especially since I mostly own economical options.
Iβve also noticed Yarnspirations has discontinued several yarn lines, including cotton cakes. Itβs a bit disappointing, as Iβm uncertain whether this decision was due to underperformance or simply a desire to refresh their offerings. Due to a skin condition, I have a limited selection of yarn that I can work with, so the consistency and quality of my stash are very important to me. I prefer to use high-quality yarn, although I still appreciate the vibrant colors of Red Heart yarn, even if the quality isnβt ideal.
