MPO: September

I haven’t written my feelings here lately because it’s been overwhelming, and I didn’t want to flood my website with entries. I’ve struggled with the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the backlash from anyone commenting on his right to express his beliefs. It’s disgusting and disheartening that someone could be killed over their beliefs or religion. Many have been fired for speaking out against Charlie. I’m glad people are being fired for their vile reactions to his death, as he was following his faith and political views. We all have different opinions and beliefs, but violence isn’t the answer. In a civilized country, you don’t kill someone over disagreement. I’m thankful I was born in America, where freedom of speech, religion, and politics still exist, despite differences with leaders. I’m proud to be from one of the original colonies and a descendant of a signer of the Declaration of Independence. I disagree with some officials and even received a message from a senator asking about banning cell phones on campuses. Kids should have their phones for safety, as trust is hard to come by nowadays. I don’t hide my opinions behind paywalls because I believe information should be free, especially when it could save lives. My editing app, Grammarly, doesn’t always agree, but I only rewrite my thoughts if they are too distorted. I’ll continue sharing my opinions as news unfolds. I started using this platform in 2014 to ease my anxiety and sleep better. September has been tough for me, and I sometimes hesitate to express myself due to negativity on social media. I aim to contribute to conversations, not change minds, to create dialogue.
