Hello, Iβm back and currently enjoying my virtual vacation. Iβd like to take a moment to address some concerns regarding recent developments within the TikTok community that I believe merit attention. My involvement has primarily been in the crafting and nomadic communities, although I identify more as a digital nomad. I appreciate the opportunities to connect with others online, as my preference for this mode of interaction stems from my neurodivergence.
Navigating social situations can be challenging for me, often leading to mixed experiences. I find that I often prefer the comfort of home, spending quality time with my family and dog, rather than engaging in social outings. However, I do enjoy going out when it contributes positively to my mental and physical well-being. For instance, I recently visited the gym and had a great swimming session, despite some frustrations with the physical therapists using the pool. I recognize the importance of their work, but I believe itβs vital for all pool users to feel welcome and respected.
During my visit, I did encounter some sensory overwhelm, which I managed by stepping outside rather than zoning out. This morning, coincidentally, I was made aware of a well-being check regarding a neurodivergent individual in distress. When I encounter situations that I perceive as bullying, I often feel compelled to write about them, as it can be difficult for me to address these issues live or on video, even though I consider myself to be friendly with many in both the nomad and crafting communities.
There have been instances that remind me of my own recent experiences in a past relationship, where I felt blindsided by someone I thought I knew well. Itβs disheartening to witness others face similar challenges, especially knowing the history I come from. As I prepare for the potential changes within TikTok, Iβm actively exploring alternative streaming and broadcasting platforms, including recently rejoining Mastodon. I genuinely believe that thinking outside the box can yield positive social interactions, and I remain optimistic about whatβs ahead.
