October Brain Dump

Hello, and welcome to another edition of Whatโ€™s on My Mind. With my birthday coming up in November, Iโ€™m one step closer to turning 50. My life has been an emotional, physical, and mental roller coaster, and Iโ€™ve faced many obstacles along the way. I feel fortunate to be where I am, even though I sometimes wish I were somewhere else geographically or that other parts of my life were different. Still, I know Iโ€™m where Iโ€™m meant to be for a reason.

Iโ€™m blessed to have my family and a small circle of people I consider friends. I donโ€™t always open up or socialize with everyone, though my mom would tell you otherwiseโ€”sheโ€™d say I can talk to a wall. And sheโ€™s right: I can talk to a wall, or to my journal. Writing lets me get my feelings out on paper, along with a whole lot of thoughts. Sometimes Iโ€™m repetitive, and sometimes I restate things in a different way to help myself understand them better.

Iโ€™m happier communicating and learning online. Honestly, I donโ€™t know what Iโ€™d do without my phone. Being neurodivergent, I need something to keep me occupied every moment Iโ€™m awake. As I write this, Iโ€™m relaxing in bed, lying on two blankets and covered by a third. The blanket is from the world-famous internet sensation COMFRTDREAMER. Yes, I have three medium-sized blankets. Do I wish Iโ€™d gotten a large oneโ€”or made all of them large? No. My bed and my beloved dog, who is my backbone when Iโ€™m less than perfect, make these blankets just the right size for us to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed.

I swear by QVCโ€™s Home Reflections sheets; theyโ€™re absolutely amazing. Even better is sleeping under these blankets, wrapped up in a cozy cocoon. Iโ€™m still living in the basement and enjoying life as fully as I can. Iโ€™m not the social butterfly I used to be outside the house, and I prefer staying home and keeping my environment quiet, or relatively quiet. There was a time when I loved going out every day, but as I get older, I realize my body is older than my brainโ€”and my body wins.

I first thought about writing this while I was upstairs having ice cream. Then I thought about Matthew Perry, who passed away on October 28, 2023, and Luke Perry, whose 60th birthday would have been this year if he were still alive. There have been some incredibly sad celebrity deaths in 2026, with Dolly Parton at the top of the list. Carrot Top and Perez Hilton have also attempted suicide and survived by the grace of God.

As a neurodivergent witch, my relationship with God can be tumultuous, to say the least. Iโ€™ve been through a lot in life, from a rough start to losing loved ones along the way and struggling to understand why. I find it easier to understand when it happens to someone outside my family than when it happens to a relative. I can watch all kinds of things on TV and learn about medicine and law, but seeing my family go through chaos is an entirely different experience.

Anyhow, Iโ€™ve become obsessed with knitting in the round. I think I have four projects going right now. I finished two the other day, but I started two more because of whatโ€™s happening in my current life situation. I need to stay busy, and itโ€™s also good to use up my yarn stash. I still havenโ€™t bought any new yarn in 2026. I donโ€™t know whether Iโ€™ll buy any in 2027, but that doesnโ€™t mean Iโ€™m not tempted to pick up some here and there. In fact, Iโ€™ve been looking closely at some new colors to add to my collection. I just donโ€™t want to buy so much that I run out of space, especially since Iโ€™m already overloading certain areas.
