Tumblr Thoughts 2

Yesterday, I shared the first part of this entry, and today I’m wrapping it up—perhaps the second part, depending on how I feel. I shared some frustrations that have been on my mind. There are many times I just get through life quietly. I mentioned that Perez Hilton inspires me to write, and that’s true—tracking the story can be quite emotional because mental health is a real concern. Many celebrities and high-profile individuals face struggles they don’t always talk about or that people overlook. I bring this up because there was another recent attempt at suicide by a celebrity—Carrot Top, also known as Scott Thompson. I don’t follow him closely, but I know of him; he was very popular in the ’90s. It’s sad but not surprising that celebrities experience mental health issues, but it’s heartbreaking when one attempts to end their life. I remember when Andy Dick overdosed and almost lost his life. Online bullying can be very harmful in many ways, even if it’s not always visible right away; it can chip away at someone’s inner peace and lead to actions they wouldn’t normally consider. Suicide is a deeply serious issue. Sometimes, we’re lucky enough to reach out to someone before it’s too late, and other times, we don’t, and we’re left wondering what happened or what we could have done differently. This applies to all cases of suicide. I get upset when I see people spreading hurtful lies or negativity about others just because they don’t like them. Wishing harm on someone because you dislike them isn’t healthy—it reflects more on you than on the person you’re targeting. As I sit here with my knitting, I think about the importance of life—how precious it is and how many ways people can harm themselves, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. I’ve struggled myself, sometimes thinking I’m not good enough, pretty enough, or skinny enough. That’s a mental hurdle I deal with. Luckily, I stay busy enough not to dwell on negative thoughts. Right now, I feel truly happy. I don’t write in my journal as often anymore because I rarely need to vent—my relationships are healthy, my lifestyle is good, and my hobbies keep my mind focused. I do pay attention to what news I watch because today’s news often isn’t very reliable. I watch what I eat too, since sometimes food isn’t what it seems, which can be a little scary; our world doesn’t feel as safe as it used to be. There’s a lot of entitlement and people feeling they deserve things they shouldn’t, which is troubling. I also worry about our government; I don’t fully trust it, and I felt the same about the previous administration. Our country has room to improve, but it’s better than it used to be. Yesterday, I mentioned I sometimes wish I could change my political views. I dream of a world where the election process isn’t just about Republicans and Democrats—that other parties could have a voice all year round without forcing us to pick sides. I’m very grateful I traveled when I did because I wouldn’t feel comfortable visiting some places now. Do I wish I lived somewhere else sometimes? Absolutely. Do I wish I could go back and do things differently? Yes. But I make the best of what I have, and I feel lucky to be where I am now.
